Dr. Boren grew up in a medical family. His grandfather and great uncle founded The Boren Clinic in Marinette. His father was a family physician and his uncle was a general surgeon, so it was no surprise Dr. Boren knew since he was a teenager that he wanted a career in medicine. Mastering the technical challenges particularly appealed to him and that's just what he did before joining Fox Valley Surgical Associates in 1980. Dr. Boren graduated from Northwestern University Medical School. He received surgical training at the University of California, San Francisco and was a research fellow in vascular surgery at Fort Miley VA Hospital in San Francisco. Dr. Boren was awarded a grant for international study at St. James Hospital in London, England prior to becoming the first vascular fellow at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. Now, even more than the technical challenges, Dr. Boren finds a smile on a newly healthy patient's face the best reward.
Dr. Boren was instrumental in the formation of Touchpoint Health Plan and has served on its board of directors. In order to stay at the top of his field, Dr. Boren belongs to a number of medical organizations, including American College of Surgeons, American Medical Association, Peripheral Vascular Surgery Society, Midwest Vascular Surgery Society, Wisconsin Surgical Society and American Association for Vascular Surgery. He has written numerous articles featured in Surgery, American Journal of Surgery, Journal of Thoracic & Cardiovascular Surgery and Archives of Surgery.
